The La Crosse Warming Center
Since opening in 2012, Saturday night has been Newman night at the La Crosse Warming Center offering hospitality, food and comfort for those who would otherwise find shelter from the cold weather in downtown parking ramp stairwells or make-shift camps in nearby wooded areas. Volunteer shifts include: 6-9:00pm is set up and check in; 9-2:30am is the first overnight shift; the 2:30-8:am shift sends guests on their way in the morning and closes the house. The Warming Center is a ministry of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of La Crosse and is open from November thru April. It is located downtown at 413 S 3rd St. across the street from the new Marriott Hotel.
