What is Campus Ministry like at Newman?
We have a TON of opportunities for students to get involved. At the Newman Center, our mission is to invite the student community at UW-L and WTC to know God in Christ, to enrich their lives through prayer, to promote Christian values, and to educate for justice and peace.
We carry out our mission by providing a welcoming and safe space for students to study, worship, learn, and grow in community with one another. We offer:
-Sunday Masses (with pizza after the Sunday Evening Mass)
-Retreats (mark your calendars for our
-FREE Newman Dinners on Tuesday nights
-Daily Mass and Adoration
-Bible Studies (at all different times of the week! We can help you find one that fits in your schedule)
-Swing Dances every other Friday
-Thursday Night Student Masses w/ snacks afterward (candlelight once/month)
-Mission Trip opportunities
-Local Service Opportunities
And more!
Additionally, because we are both a parish and a Newman Center, La Crosse families as well as students can be parishioners at our parish. This opens up opportunities to get to know La Crosse area Catholic families.
How can I get involved?
We invite you to join us for Sunday Mass, or any of our events! The first two-three weeks we will be promoting our student parishioner survey. Sign up as a student parishioner HERE. (Will update link as fall approaches). This is a great way to stay up to date with what’s happening at Newman.
What is FOCUS?
FOCUS, or the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, is an apostolate within the Catholic Church whose mission is "to know Christ Jesus and to fulfill His Great Commission by launching college students into lifelong Catholic mission." We have 5 college graduates who work through our Newman Center to facilitate bible studies, plan mission trips, and mentor students in small groups and one on one meet-ups.
