Readings for today’s Mass
Just a week ago, we celebrated the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, where we heard the story of the Annunciation. In another very similar story, Mary is visited by the angel Gabriel and told she will bear a son. However, this story is a little different, because Mary wasn’t expecting to have a child anytime soon. But, like the women we hear about today, Mary too trusts in the Lord with great faith, and patiently waits for God to work in her life.
Today, the Lord is telling us to be patient and wait for Him. The Advent season is a season of waiting, and trusting that God’s plan will be revealed in His own time. As we journey through Advent, let us also trust in God’s perfect timing with true faith. As these women waited for the Lord, trusting in His plan for them, we too wait patiently with great faith and trust, for the coming of Christ. Let us prepare, during this time of patient waiting, to welcome Him into our hearts.
