Saint of the day - Franz Jägerstätter
Readings for today’s Mass
A memorial to Franz Jägerstätter tells a great deal about him. The inscription reads: It is better to have your hands ties than your will. While he was chained and in prison, he was still free to act according to his well informed conscience. His will was never bound in chains, was not compromised. His response to challenge was, "I can only act on my own conscience. I do not judge anyone. I can only judge myself.”
It can be a great challenge to be true to one's principles, especially when others may be trying to dissuade. To consistently invoke the name of Jesus in all that we say and do, even when it comes with a cost, is the hallmark of discipleship. If you are even challenged to act in someone else's name. In the name of Jesus, you shall only love.
