Readings for today’s Mass
Our Gospel reading gives us more encouragement as Jesus tells the parable of the mustard seed. During my first few years in Church Ministry I was often discouraged that my efforts, my passion, my attempts at sharing the message of Jesus didn’t always appear to be well received. It took time (and more maturity on my part) to realize that even though I may have been met with challenges by the teens I ministered too I had to press on and continue sharing the truth and beauty of our faith. I was scattering seeds that I might never see grow to fruition. Slowly, I began to see the results of the work I was doing in the teens beginning to open up about their faith, running out of space on a mission trip because so many people wanted to participate, former youth returning as college students to help lead youth ministry and so much more.
We may never know the effect sharing our faith has on those around us. We may even be met with resistance. We have to keep sowing the seeds of faith and be witnesses to our baptism. Hold fast brothers and sisters, the smallest of seeds may grow into something amazing!
