Years ago when i worked at the high school, one of my tasks was visiting with sophomores who got themselves in trouble. High school sophomores think they can fool everyone; and sometimes they would fool me. Not very often. The one major take-away that i hoped they would learn from our trouble-shooting session was that, while they can fool me and a lot of other people, the one person they can never fool is themselves. They always know what is in their hearts that drives their behavior. With all they wanted to say to me about whatever happened, they could never get one over on themselves.
So sometimes you might think God isn't paying close attention, you think you can get one over on God while he's watching something else. You might believe you are quick enough to fool God, but fooling yourself is a different story. Don't bet on it.
