Readings for today’s Mass
Behind the "Holy Family," the parishioners follow with candles until they reach that night's chosen home where they knock on the door and beg for shelter. They are repeatedly refused, until the "innkeepers" relent and finally open the door to them. Everyone goes into the house where they pray the rosary. A celebration follows, an includes festive food, and a piñata.
On the last night of the posada (Christmas Eve), two children who act as Jesus’ godparents carry the baby to the nativity scene and lay him in the manger.
Recall some of the holiday traditions you grew up with. Are they still meaningful to you? Do they help you open the inn of your heart to welcome the holy family? What Christmas traditions will you pass on to your children?
