Readings for today’s Mass
Meanwhile, in reality, most of what we experience could "gladden" us: my car starts on a cold morning; the lights switch on (I lived in a developing nation where having electricity was always iffy); 99% of the people I pass on the streets are either friendly or at least leave me in peace; I don't live fearful of starving; medical care is nearby. In other words, sure I have my problems, but in fact blessings surround me if I only let my eyes see and ears hear. God's comfort comes in many forms, including cars working, lights flashing on, green salads for lunch, and kind people. This psalm draws me to the spiritual discipline of praying steadily and regularly Your comfort gladdens my soul.
