Readings for today’s Mass
In today's Gospel, the word father is used nine times describing God as Jesus' father. There is also a list of things that Jesus sees the father do. It starts with this: My Father is at work until now, so I am at work. The Son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing.
As well, the reading from Isaiah attributes quite a list of this associated with God's goodness. It starts with: Thus says the Lord: In a time of favor I answer you, on the day of salvation I help you. Surely Jesus watched closely and learned well from his Father. Hos ministry was modeled on what he learned from his Abba.
The primary purpose of scripture is to teach us who God is and who we are in relationship with God. As you pray with scripture, what do you understand about and learn from God that you can imitate in your world? What are you doing that reflects attributes of God?
