Readings for today’s Mass
In today's gospel, Jesus challenges the disciple, in the same verse, for having just a little faith and with having no faith at all. He tells them that even the smallest amount of faith is enough to move a mountain. It was their lack that prevented a cure for the man's son.
To the Poor Clares of Assisi, repelling the Saracens was the equivalent of asking a mountain to move. Even if her faith was only a mustard seed, God saw and responded.
Faith is often what moves us to prayer in our time of need. i never know how faith is measured to achieve a desired amount. Jesus says a very small amount is enough for great results. Mustard seeds are pretty small. i see it this way, if your faith moves you to take a knee, that is enough. God will notice.
