Saint of the day - Casilda
Readings for today’s Mass
Today's saint is a good example, 11th c. Casilda was born of royalty, showed mercy toward Christian prisoners, sought healing at a Christian shrine and was raised Muslim.
We know precious else about her, but, at least at the local level, she was known as a woman of great holiness, even before she became Christian. There are many such obscure saints on the calendar about whom we know almost nothing. In such cases, it was because of the people who knew them in life, who were touched by their holiness, that they are remembered today.
As you walk the campus or the streets of the city, keep an eye open for the holiness of Casilda, maybe manifested in one of your classmates. You might see it anywhere. That's why it is a universal call.
