Readings for today’s Mass
That is what the followers of Jesus are obsessed with today - in-group syndrome. They see outsiders doing things that only disciples should be doing. They are upset with this. To make things worse, the disciples can't get the outsiders to stop what they are doing. How quick they are to judge the actions of others. What the disciples fail to see is the fact that good work is good work, regardless of who is doing it. So Jesus seizes another teaching moment.
Goodness on behalf of those who would benefit from goodness should never be denied or withheld. Everyone is capable of acts of goodness that should never be diminished because of the persons starting point. My lead happens to be the gospel of Jesus. That does not make any action on my part better or different from that of someone who's tradition includes the Bhagavad Gita or the Torah. Goodness, in the name of goodness, all looks pretty much the same.
