A musical Jesus drama would hear Mary of Magdala pleading: This was unexpected, what do we do now? Can we start again please? It was a long, lonely day for Peter, and those gathered around him.
For many, that is still how Holy Saturday feels. It seems an eerie void has settled around us. The chapel is bear and empty. The house takes on a stillness we don't know what to do with. So, what do we do now? Can we start again please?
It will all start again soon enough with a new sunrise, an empty tomb and the angel words, "Do not be amazed." But that is for tomorrow.
For now, sit for a while with the emptiness created by the one who is missing from the group. What does this day feel like to you? Can you empathise with Peter? With Mary? John? Do you feel their loss? Do you grieve with them in their pain? Are you wishing to start again please?
