Readings for today’s Mass
Trust, setting our heart on Christ, is at the core of the resurrected life. Jesus kept telling us that to trust in God is to be blessed. In today's psalm God declares, "My home is within you." Accepting this fact can be a real challenge.
Some centuries ago, Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection, a cook in his monastery who turned out to be a saint, once told his companions: "Remember, I beg you, what I have recommended to you, which is to think often of God, by day, by night, in all your pursuits and duties; even during your recreations. God is always near you and with you; do not leave God alone. You would think it rude to leave a friend alone who came to visit you. Why abandon God and leave God alone?"
We don't have to run around looking for God. God is within us. We don't have to go to chapel to make a visit. All we need to do is turn our attention to God. God is at home in us.
