Readings for today’s Mass
Tomorrow we begin again the season that is often reflected on as a time of hopeful waiting for the coming of the savior. There are many ways to enter into this prayerful time. i like to model Advent on the greeting Paul uses over and over in his letters to the early Church: “Grace and peace to you.”
In the cycle of seasons, we are entering a quiet time. The bustle of planting, nurturing and harvesting is done; the earth rests. Advent often engenders a sense of calm stillness. What a divine grace is this time of quiet reflection and contemplation; a time that settles the soul and leads us to peace.
Also in his letters, Paul expresses gratitude a lot. During this Advent, i hope i can be more grateful for the gifts that come, not in pretty packages, but from one heart to another; those often unwrapped blessings that unexpectedly fall into my lap unannounced.
Peace, grace and gratitude. As you pray your way to Christmas, i wish these for you.
