Sunday prayers for the poor, for peace, for justice are all fine and dandy, as long as my actions on Monday support food pantries and programs, policies that help people with disabilities and the elderly over tax cuts for folks looking to buy a second home in the mountains, and so on. My decisions on Mondays are when the "rubber meets the road." Frankly, I'm just sick of politicians who proclaim what good Catholics they are by opposing abortion and then cut children's health insurance and food programs or want to throw refugees out of the country all the while offering cushy jobs to their rich cronies. For us, there should be "no needy person" among us. What is it that we don't understand about this?
