In 1965, the average CEO made 20 times the amount of the average worker. Today CEO's average 312 times the pay of the average worker. Granted many rich people set up foundations and give to charity generously. But there is something perverse in a society in which the actual workers are paid so disproportionately less than the CEO. Interestingly, when Money magazine did a study of which states give the largest portion of their income to charity, some of the poorest states came out on top: 1 - Utah; 2 - Mississippi; 3 - Alabama; 4 - Tennessee. The "widow" is still more generous than the rich folks.
The reign of God is about justice, community, equity. Such inequality will only breed anger, injustice, and disquiet.
