Readings for today’s Mass
While God gets angry and needs to bring Israel back in line, there comes a time when the cycle is over and, like the return of the prodigal son, there is reason to rejoice. Baruch tells Jerusalem, Off with your robes of mourning and put on the splendor of God. Wrapped in a cloak of justice, bear on your head a mitre of eternal glory.
When it comes to your relationship with God, there are times for remorse and supplication, there are times for humble reconciliation. There are also times when all is right with God and it is good to rejoice and celebrate. If we are always bent over kneeling on the floor, when can we look up to see the glory of God? Baruch says, Up Jerusalem! Stand upon the heights...
So should we not be afraid or ashamed to stand tall in the glory of the Lord who is merciful and forgiving.
