A similar thought might be used to describe Jesus' caution to would be disciples in today's gospel. He tells us it's not always going to be fun or easy. You might be persecuted; family and friends may turn against you; you might even die! Now that is when it really hurts.
But as your trainer will tell you, it's all for the greater good you seek. In Jesus' words, It will lead to your giving testimony. Persecution can be a window of opportunity to share the word. That is the greater good. The goal is to spread the gospel to all people. When we speak out in the name of Jesus, our words do not always fall on rich soil. We will sometimes face hardship. Bt it's part of being a disciple. Are you up for this?
