The Gospel if the day is a reminder that, with every struggle we have in life, we can always find rest in the Lord. This time of the year is a time of celebration for the birth of Christ. But with the season also comes the stress of deadlines, finals for students, or just getting ready for the holidays. In this passage, Jesus lets us know that we don't have to shoulder alone the burdens we carry. God offers us rest if we open ourselves to receive it, but we have to keep our eyes on him and trust that he is there to help us and guide us thru life's problems. God promises an easy load and a light burden for those who trust. So, no matter what distractions come to you during this season, remember what the season is about. It is about celebrating a God who, not only cares for us, but who has given his life to carry our burdens.
