Paul also challenges us in this portion of his letter to Romans. He shares with the people he is writing to that he, “aspires to proclaim the Gospel not where Christ has already been named, but as it is written: Those who have never been told of him shall see, and those who have never heard of him shall understand.” It is important to surround ourselves with those who share our beliefs. It benefits us to be able to find support and share conversation with like-minded people. But we must go beyond that. Sadly our world is desperately in need of hearing God’s message of love and it is our responsibility to tell others. I am so impressed when our students intentionally pray the rosary while walking through campus, or readily volunteer to give up a Monday or Thursday evening to serve supper at the Salvation Army. These young people are showing an often cynical and sad world that there is hope through Christ. They have stepped out of their comfort zones to demonstrate their faith in quiet ways.
This week be aware of and open to Christ calling you to share and live your faith outside of your comfort zone. Know that you are not alone! Take the leap and let the Holy Spirit guide you into uncharted territories.
